At Yellowstone Custom Country Homes our attention to client needs and commitment to craftsmanship are part of every home we build. We specialize in building custom homes including timber framed homes, log homes and conventionally framed homes with timber and log accents.

Howard Mills

Howard founded Yellowstone Custom Country Homes in 1994 when he and his family moved to Montana. During the late 70’s he spent several years doing historical Victorian restoration and renovation on an old Hudson Valley resort located in the in the Shawangunk Mountains called the Mohonk Mountain House. Following that, he formed a residential building company located in the Catskill Mountains that specialized in timber frame and log home construction. After 15 years of residential home building he decided to move to Montana with his wife and four sons. In Montana, he has continued to build homes emphasizing fine craftsmanship. This has included log and timber frames as well as conventionally framed homes using timber and log accents. These homes often utilize recycled and reclaimed materials in their finishes. Howard and his wife, Kathleen, and our sons who have all worked together at one time or another. Yellowstone Custom Country Homes remains a family business with Howard and Kathleen’s oldest son, Wesley, now a full partner/owner.

Wesley Mills

Wesley has worked for Yellowstone Custom Country Homes for 23 years. He started as a laborer and worked to become a journeyman carpenter and a master carpenter. In 2004, he started as a project manager. In addition to working on all phases of construction, he has managed large custom homes and ranch complexes. After working as a manager for several years, he became an owner in 2015. Wesley and his wife Megan live in Bozeman MT with their 3 children. He continues the Yellowstone Custom Country Homes tradition of fine craftsmanship and following through on making our clients dreams become a reality called “home”.

I especially enjoyed the Yellowstone “surprise” feature, as well as the creativity exhibited by adding in a difficult loft addition with spiral stair casing that significantly stretched the capabilities of the original design of the home.
